I’m STARVING, but not for food... I’m starving for more interaction, more connection, more spontaneity!
A few weeks ago, my fiancé and I went to happy hour at one of DINEvent’s preferred partners, Ocean Prime in Denver. I had every intention of blogging about its location, what we ate and drank, the different private dining spaces I saw, and more. It wasn’t until I recapped my night out to Amanda and Anayis the following week that I realized what made the night were the people, the connections, the FUN that was had being out and about, chatting with strangers who became friends, and just LIVING LIFE again.
During my recap, we empathized with longtime friend of DINEvent and HelmsBriscoe Associate, Kris Finger, who frequently shares on Instagram all of the ways she has (safely!) sought in-person connection over the last 2 years. Kris shares her story with Setting The Table below.
It’s been a long two years since the pandemic started and the world shut down. But despite isolation, quarantines, masking, and travel restrictions, what didn’t change was my unquenchable desire to travel.
While I adhered to the safety guidelines religiously and slathered myself in more hand sanitizer than should be legally allowed, I flew, I drove, I crossed borders, I’ve visited over 18 states since the pandemic started – and I’ve avoided contracting the dreaded C19 in the process (knock on wood).
What I learned each time I packed a bag, hoisted a roller-board overhead, or maintained convos with Uber drivers who were difficult to hear through masks, was that I NEED people. It’s why I work in the meetings industry. The value of authentic connections in-person are what drive me, make me who I am, and influence my perspective.
This “chapter” of the pandemic is a whole new ballgame for all segments of the conference and events industry, but I’m ready to tackle the challenges we face head on.
So get out there and attend a conference, show up, network, share your stories. The more we reconnect and share in person, the stronger we’ll be 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼”
Did Kris’ words resonate with you like they did with the DINEvent team?
