5 Years with DINEvent

Rachel celebrated her 5-year work anniversary with DINEvent last month. We cannot believe just how fast time is flying, especially because we have so much fun with Rachel!

She sat down with Setting the Table to chat about her time with DINEvent and what she hopes for her’s and DINEvent’s future. We channeled our inner-Oprah here to ask the burning questions you’ve been dying to know answers to; take a peek below!

Day Job: DINEvent!

Other Job(s): Part-time Fitness Coach at orangetheory, Occasional Babysitter

Dream Job: See above. No, really, it’s my current situation. I couldn’t be luckier that I get to work for DINEvent AND have side hustles that I am passionate about.

Favorite Happy Hour Cocktail: Lately, I am so into spicy margaritas. I think Anayis has rubbed off on me, since that’s her favorite too!

Dream Vacation: Too many to name but my top choices include: Greece, Australia, Croatia, Portugal and of course, to return back to where I studied abroad, Barcelona!

New Hobby: Not totally new, but using the Peloton. It’s something I got very “in to” around this time last year (AKA Quarantine).

Best Charcuterie Board Combo: Anything my best friend, Chrissy makes. She posts her boards on her Instagram account, @cute_charcute. Check it out!

Reality TV Show You’d Most Like to Appear On: The Real Housewives. I have a tagline ready to go.

Go-To Late Night Snack: Anything, and I mean anything, that involves chocolate, peanut butter…or both!

Karaoke Song You’d Most Likely Sing: None because trust me, no one wants to hear my singing voice, LOL.

Favorite Quarantine Activity: Listening to podcasts or reading. I read almost 20 books in 2020 and I have a goal to read over 20 in 2021.

Peak in the Last 5 Years with DINEvent: Completely cheesy, but it would have to be the bond that’s grown between our team. They are my sisters and best friends.

Pit in the Last 5 Years with DINEvent: I think this goes without saying but the pandemic hitting our entire industry like we could’ve never imagined.

We just read about a convention that safely took place in Charlotte, NC; additionally, Orlando’s continued streak of successful in-person events continues to raise the bar for what safe, in-person events look like today. What is your take on hosting meetings and events right now? This question gets me excited for the future. I really do feel that meetings and events are going to come back bigger, bolder and better than ever. Each individual needs to do what they personally feel is right for them and their families when it comes to travel and should only do what makes them feel comfortable based on each situation. However, I believe people are craving the buzz that can only be felt during an in-person networking event or the energy that an opening session brings. I am also loving the take on hybrid events! Now that we know how virtual events can be done, why not offer the option of both in-person and virtual, whenever possible.

We loved celebrating International Women’s Day as a team! What do you enjoy most about working on a female-only, female-led team? This ties to my peak during my 5 years with DINEvent, but it’s forming the bond between our team that is as strong as can be. I love how we focus on each other’s individual strengths and weaknesses and how we value each other’s opinions. I look up to my team because I know what strong women they are and they inspire me every day both personally and professionally.

What do you envision for DINEvent’s future in 2021 and beyond? So much! I’d say more, but then there’d be nothing else to blog about, so I guess you’ll have to continue following along to see what else is in store for us :)

Thank you, Rachel, for sitting down to chat with us!
